Vintage Martin Pickguard

Hey guys, I've recently come into a 1947 D-18 that is missing the original pickguard. It's a family heirloom (and a cannon to boot) and I was really hoping that I could get a period pickguard to put on it. I know that stuff like that is almost impossible to find, but I didn't know if anybody would happen to have any connections to get a piece like this. Thanks for any help...

Did you find any period pick guards. I have a 47 D28 with a non original pickguard and would love to put something authentic on it.

You could custom make one and put it on, i.e. get the shape down from old pictures, get the material, cut it and put it on. Most guitar luthiers could easily do that for you. Probably better doing that than actually try to find an original.

Go to the UMGF and ask the people there.I'm sure you can find what you want.But you have to become a member first.

Luthier's Mercantile has some wonderful Tor-tis pickgaurds I have put on 2 older Martins. Nice and authentic llook and feel with a nice beveled edge. Having had first hand experience with them, I highly recommend them. Here is the link:
