I'm in need of a repair guy for my '51 Martin 000-21

Hey folks,

I have a '51 Martin 000-21 that is need of some help.

Does anyone have a "vintage Martin" friendly guru that gets work done in the same decade you send them the instrument?

thanks
adam

Jim Grainger at Custom Fretted Instruments in Sparta, TN. Call him at 931-657-2398. He's one of the best vintage Martin guys around and he's fair and not so swamped with work that it'll take years to get your guitar back. Jim's been around the Martin scene since the late 50's. He knows what they're made of. :-)
Dave,

thanks for the info. I'll give him a shout. Theres a lot of music trapped in this little 000, I'm trying my best to let it out!

Adam, I would recommend Ronnie Nichols, Harrison TN. He has a web site, Nicholsbanjo, com. There are pictures of a repair he did of my D35. He also redid my '42 D18. He is very thorough and knowledgable about all aspects of guitar repair, plus he will get the job don pronto cephus.
Jim Thompson
I just took a look at the web site. His work looks great!

thanks for the info

Might depend on where you are... I trust Michael Lewis with my guitars: http://www.michaellewisinstruments.com/

He's in Grass Valley (actually between Auburn & GV) CA

Gryphon in Palo Alto also has a great reputation for guitar work.

been awhile since Jed asked the pick question, so probably doesn't care by now, but when i went to a Beppe workshop some years ago, he was using the Dunlop 500 (not the tortex, but the glossy model), pink one... .98 thickness.
