What type or brand guitar do you play?

Probably been asked before...what type of guitar to the forum members play. I am looking to purchase an upscale guitar.

Hi Daniel,
We have already exhibited at the Miami Guitar Festival [last month]. Next we will be exhibiting at the Montreal Guitar Show in June. We may go to CAAS in Nashville in July but we are not 100% sure yet as it conflicts with some other commitments. The last show will be at IBMA "Fan Fest" in Nashville this fall in Sept. We may be at the Southern Ohio Indoor Music Festival but they haven't posted their dates yet. If any of these are on your schedule please stop by our booth and pic a while.

Hi there. I found a Larrivee OM-O5E that absolutely glued itself to my hands. It is abosolutely the best guitar that I've ever touched. A buddy of mine told me that I just got a jewel as others he's played didn't sound like my copy. At any rate, I sold my Martin D28 to my Dad :)

I am currently playing a plain Jane straight braced 2006 D-18. It's a pretty good D-18, got a little bearclaw, great action, and a real sweet mahogany tone. It is a better guitar than I am a picker . I've got no complaints. I have had a great 2001 HD-28 that I traded for an old beat up scallopped heavily Kimseyfied 1974 amberburst D28. I swapped that for a 1991 D-62 because I was gassing for a Maple Dreadnought ever since I could remember. Then I liquidated that for some quick Christmas cash :) Was playing one of those JD-16 Carolina II Engleman topped laminated mahogany sides and back dreadnoughts for a while and now I've finally settled into the D-18. I also have a Guild G-37 that is more or less on extended loan to my daughter as well.
How much are you willing to spend, and what kind of guitar are you upscaling from?

I Found A Guy that is really not Quite well known "YET" ! In Joplin,Missouri that is
Building what I consider The Best Guitar I have Ever played ! He got his start Building
Classical Guitar, Switched Over to the Hard Driving Dreadnoughts ! And MAN !
These Guitars have the Punch,Sound,Tone Of what I Believe the Best Guitar for Flatpicking ! My Guitar has Rosewood sides,Carpathean Spruce Top ! (Hope I spelled that right?) I would not trade it for any Guitar ! If you are wanting A Guitar that will
Be of Super High Quality, w/ The sound to match.... Give Him A Call !

I've sold all my upscale, midscale, and downscale guitars - now am playing a couple that I built.

I've owned Collings, Martin, Bourgeois, Gallagher, Larivee, Gibson, and Taylor guitars - a share of two "pool guitars" - a Proulx and a Miller - each had it's own unique characteristics, and all were better guitars than I am a player, for sure.

I have a few Martins and play my HD-28 and D-18 the most. I also have a 1988 Larrivee D-10 that I just love. Back in 1996, Del Langejans built a W-6 for me. It is a slope shoulder walnut back and sides guitar and, while I love it for fingerpicking, I do flatpick it a lot, too. I also have a 1977 Mossman Winter Wheat.

I've really been struck by my new Osthoff AS (Auditorium Series). It's a dread-sized OM, more or less. Adirondack over Honduran Rosewood with ebony where you'd expect it and stainless frets. It's got serious tone to spare and is so loud my wife can hear me playing it all the way down in the basement. This is my keeper, along with my GE, which has the Full Kimsey treatment. The Osthoff is the single best acoustic guitar I've played. I mean, I don't remember any guitar I've ever played that speaks to me like this one does. Being that it's an OM shape, it's very articulate, and the 16" lower bout gives it some serious volume. It has a sound port and also the Manzer Wedge design. It's comfortable and just as sweet as can be to play.
