Flatpicking Guitar Network

For Fans of Flatpicking Guitar Magazine

Thought I'd start a topic for improvements you'd like to see here. Two of my favorites are:

1. Central (searchable) place for peoples' music uploads.
2. Private messaging (member to member)

Wes,
I'll work on the central place for music uploads. But, you can send private messages to people. You go to their page and then click the "send a message" button under their photo. In order to read the messages that have been sent to you privately, go look at the very top of any page and you should see an envelope icon. Click on that and you can see your personal messages.
Thanks for the suggestions...keep them coming!
Dan
Hi Dan, After second thoughts about a spot for music uploads, we would have to specify and make sure we do NOT upload copywrited material. That wouldn't be fair to the publishers and artists. I don't mind paying for music, heck I've paid $20-35 for a tune book when I was after just 1 piece from it.

Suggestion #3
Add 'location' to the profiles and make it possible to search members by location so we can attempt to hook up with new people!
Hey Wes,
I like this site, but as far a simprovements go, I would like to see sothing more like the UMGF's and Mando Cafe's forum. It is just easier to search topics to join in on when they are all right in front of you. In this forum, it looks like topics can easily get lost easily once they go off the page.
Also, as has been posted in another topic, a way to search pickers by state or country might be nice.
Other than that, I think Dan may have something here. It's a pretty cool site.
Its like myspace for flatpickers
I would suggest maybe a "classified" section, perhaps along the line of UMGF "Buy & Sell". Many of us are frequently looking for "that" guitar (or selling it....).
I vote for a Classified section.
I'll second the central place for music uploads. Between the lot of us flatpickers, there should be no reason we could never get our mits on any tunes (verses and or music).
How about a Classifieds section where members can sell used flatpicking stuff?
I think it would be helpful if you could search members by state. That way if you are looking for pickers in your area you won't have to search the entire membership index. On the other hand if this is already possible just let me know how to do it.
Thanks
Alan
