I haven't been on in a while, but I don't think anyone has commented on the show Tony and the Unit played Saturday. I don't have time for a full review, but I will give some observations:
1) Lineup: Tony and Wyatt on guitar - Tony was playing his old 'bone, of course, and it looked as if Wyatt was playing his Todd Sams WR model. Rob Ickes on dobro, Josh Williams on mando, and Bryn Davies on bass. Everyone was absolutely ON FIRE. Incredible show, despite some sound issues.
2) Set list highlights: Shady Grove, I Am a Pilgrim, Wayfarin' Stranger (awesome 4-5 minute solo intro - an absolute hush over the entire venue), Redhaired Boy (Tony sent this out to my teacher, Glenn Tolbert), Manzanita, Waltz For Indira, Daybreak in Dixie, Favorite Things (opener), Salt Creek (encore)...I'm forgetting a few at the moment.....
3) Tony's appearance: He looked tired, somewhat pale and drawn, but seemed happy to be there and in good spirits. He was cracking jokes onstage and afterward. Glenn commented that he looked exhausted. His playing was awesome, even better than at MerleFest, IMO.
I got to meet Tony briefly afterward, have my TR issue of Fretboard Journal autographed and a picture taken with him and Glenn Tolbert. I'll try to post some pics later, or maybe send a disc to Dan as my upload is incredibly slow on dialup.
