Hi, Dan. My wife and I are driving down from Minnesota, assuming a glacier doesn't swallow us up before we get out of the state. I look forward to meeting you. I've been a FGM subscriber so long that I feel like I know you already.
I'll be there Saturday and Sunday. Forecast is good; the spring weather has been horrible, but the all star cast more than makes up for it.

I will be heading down for the Thursday show. I am bringing my tent, my guitar, and $6. I am sure that is all I will need....

Looking forward to meeting and playing with you folks!

Early fest jam ....
I'm leaving Virginia this morning on my way to Missouri. I'm looking forward to a great weekend of flatpicking. I'll be taking photos, conducting podcast interviews, and shooting some video footage to post here on the network. It should be fun!

Dan - I gave John Chapman some flyers advertising the Dreadnoughts Unlimited drawings this year. He is at Silver Dollar City today with The Chapmans, but he and Jeremy are going to be at the festival.

Would you put the flyers on your table (or somewhere where folks can pick them up)? It would help a lot.

I wish I could make it - it's only a three hour drive (John and Jeremy are making me feel bad - they're flying in to St. Louis from a gig in Georgia and renting a car to get there!). Perhaps next year.
Next years lineup is shapin up nicely..
Managed to lock the 2008 Winfield Flatpicking Champ Tyler Grant in to the weekend.
DVD shoot thursday with Scott Nygaard, Robert Bowlin and Jack Lawrence , Friday Tyler Grant, Robin Kessinger and David Grier, Sat.. Wil Maring, Tim May, Brad Davis and a jamathon .. There are possible additions , so stay tuned !

Easy Solution To a Common Acoustic/Electric String Problem

Found a solution to an often mentioned problem when having installed a piezo type bridge plate pickup transducer. The consensus of several Internet responders who have done this is that while the sound from strings 2 through 6 is good, the high e-string  is way too quiet with no real ring, sustain, etc. Some have suggested moving the transducer for that string away from a brace, Adding a 4th transducer, a not so easy job, etc.I recently installed a JJB pickup (jjbelectronics) in a 40 year old…See More

"Dan -- I ran out of time to say much but I want to thank you for your beginner's articles in FGM. I work them out fingerstyle on a nylon-string baritone ukulele."

FGM DGBE

I play two-thirds of a guitar. I have some wrist issues with fretting the 6th string. I enjoy finger picking but have been an avid follower of Flatpicking Guitar Magazine for about 6 years. I find Dan Huckabee's beginners arrangements great for the bari-uke. I have also found much of Adam Granger's work suits my DGBE tuning.I once took a class from Dan Miller in Palo Alto, California and he told me that his daughter was playing the baritone uke. I have e-mailed Adam about his new FGM…See More

"I have a left handed Blue Chip TAD 3R 40 pick and I find it a great pick to use, no scraping and quick on the strings. The only problem is that the tone is quite bass-y which is great for lead picking or Mandolin but not so good for rhythm…"
