seeking phosphor strings with a softer feel

Hey all,

I've been playing on medium gauge Martin non-coated phosphor SPs, but lately finding them very stiff feeling. Seeking recommendations for a string with a softer feel. Not necessarily as soft as Thomastiks, but something less stiff than the Martins. Any recommendations?

Pyramids either the 328 (hex core) or the Western Folk (round core) will have a softer feel than the Martins....really nice lush tone as well.

Thanks Greg!

Try Newtone double wound! They are really flexible. But they are hard to find, sometimes, they seem to sell out pretty quick whenever a store gets a batch of em.

Thanks!

I really like D'Addario Flat Tops (EFT17 for medium/EFT16 for light). They're not flatwound, but regular PB strings that have been ground slightly on the surface. You get a fast, smooth feel and no finger squeak. Can't say whether they're easier to fret or bend, but they sure feel nice.

Thanks!

I agree. I have been using Flat tops for about a year now and really like them.  EFT17's. They were designed for slide use, and are not very bright sounding. But I like them like that for flat picking and backing rhythms.

Have you tried D'Addario J24's.They're medium/lights.The low E,B,and high E are mediums.The A,D,G are light gauge.

I just put some Earnie Ball Lites on my Martin D35 ( Martin recommends Medium). But I find the lites exceptionally easier to play & excellent tonal quality with thes Earnie Ball lites Slinky......give um a go.......I've been trying new strings each time I change, in search of my desired utopia and I may have found it with the EB Slinky!

Any Carbon Acoustic Guitar enthusiast here?

My first Carbon was an Adamas.I currently play a Rainsong Dred.I discovered carbon Guitars 2 years ago in a local Guitar store and purchased one within a month.  I played my first RainSong Dred about a year later and bought that one.I watched Scott Nygards reviews on you tube and that kinda got me searching.Anyone else play the fakes?See More

"I have settled on the BlueChip CT55. The BlueChip picks play very smooth and fast, with little pick noise. By the way, I use their thumb picks as well- best I've ever used."
