For Fans of Flatpicking Guitar Magazine
This "report" overlaps with any number of topics in the Beginner Forum.
I've had a great experience using the FGNetwork "Instructors" resource. I sent out 4 emails to instructors who are within a half-hour travel radius and got back 4 very promising and detailed responses. The replies came from long-establish instructors and professional players. All had a web presence and/or You Tubes.
I've now had 3 lessons with a very gifted player and teacher. He seems not to be bothered by my sluggish progress, and the fact that on he is on the road playing once or twice a month gives me a chance to catch up.
If you have been thinking about getting private lessons, go ahead and give it a try. The FGN link is a good start.
