Thanks a bunch ganon. I agree with one of your posts that one of the best things about this site is the exchange/feedback from everyone. I never realized the syncopation until I saw this. Thanks also for the upstroke tip. Being experienced in other genres of music doesn't guarantee instant success here. Starting at square 1 and following a methodical plan is something new to me, so I need lots of help. As far as the chromatic scales, I was using them to try and establish some proficiency at flatpicking, but this is proving to be pretty frustrating. I agree with your idea of sticking to scales which is good practice, but also something useful. Good stuff buddy. Thanks for the help.

There must have been a full moon last night, I was on this very same lessons this morning and couldn't hit the broadside of the barn from 3 ft away. I simply walked away for a few minutes, slowed down and things started to click. Ganon appreciate the link, it was right on, my right hand was just way too heavy starting out. Once I relaxed things fell into place. I'm not quite up to speed yet, but it's getting there.

Hello All, Just starting to flatpick and I have read a lot of posts here and I will turn 57 on Sunday, I got my first guitar at 13 and had a few lessons and  learned some chords and self taught from there, well married for 34yrs and 11 grankids later I want to really learn and it's no time like the present, I'm burning daylight and I have the time, I'm disable and don't walk much but I can play my guitar. So here I am, I could use a few pointers. Oh, I want to pick like that, I have been strumming long enough! Glad to be a part of FGN

What DVD is everyone talking about? I'd like to look into it.  Does it really help?

Hello everyone. Just wanted to say Hello. I played quite a bit of bluegrass and flat picking in the late 70's. Really enjoyed it. Figured it was time to get back in the grove. Wish me luck. Scott

Hey everyone! What is the best way to find other people to get together with to flat pick with?  There aren't many people around here that really enjoy it as much as I do.  Most people around here that play only know rock songs.  Anyone from Central Indiana?

Any Carbon Acoustic Guitar enthusiast here?

My first Carbon was an Adamas.I currently play a Rainsong Dred.I discovered carbon Guitars 2 years ago in a local Guitar store and purchased one within a month.  I played my first RainSong Dred about a year later and bought that one.I watched Scott Nygards reviews on you tube and that kinda got me searching.Anyone else play the fakes?See More
