I'd pre-ordered it some time ago,of course i had to buy it.
It needs some listening time,it's a unique album, because it has electric guitar work inside,BUT it's not an electric guitar cd,but an acoustic cd.David here shows us his electric guitar influences, but instead of playing a bunch of notes,he serves the music.
Love it!

Daves new Evocative cd review...

This one took some time , and several listens to get a handle on.
This recording seems to me to be about his vision of the wider possibilities of his music .
Dont get me wrong, his Guitar work is as incredible as ever, but he allows space for others to add texture to what are very beautiful songs.
All in all this is another piece of the pie the Davids cooked for us.. And a fine, fine cook he is !
So if your a fan, get this one, listen deeply .. I think you will be pleased.
And I like the new website too !

I added a few videos on my page here in ning ,with David doin some great pickin.. The WildWood Flower became my favorite version in one listen.
He is aware of this group, and appreciates all the kind words.
Even tho these are from 07, its the first time I have seen them , go figure.....

Hey everybody,
Just got around to joining up. I tried relentlessly to play like Grier the first 4 or 5 years I started to really get into picking. Then I heard him play for about 2 hours at the 1st kaufman camp and figured his music was the inspiration, not the map. He played whatever we asked with endless variations. I still listen to Goldrush and a few other tunes from that day in amazement.

Hi everybody, I remember to do a great Masterclass with David Grier in 2005. To me he's one of the most creative guitar player after Clarence White, Tony Rice and Charles Sawtelle.

I was going through my cd collection the other day and listened to Lone Soldier disc. It's one of my favorites.

Yikes, I'm wrinkly! But this picture was taken on Day 14 of 14 days straight working at Steve Kaufman's Acoustic Kamp. Yup, I was tired, but seeing David (and hearing him play) got me all energized again. He's simply.....fine. Don't miss any opportunity you might have to see him, talk to him, pick with him, listen to him....or hug him. ;-)

been awhile since Jed asked the pick question, so probably doesn't care by now, but when i went to a Beppe workshop some years ago, he was using the Dunlop 500 (not the tortex, but the glossy model), pink one... .98 thickness.
