So, how to proceed as a group? This will be a second time through for me for a while (but hopefully more regular and structured), so I don't want to dictate pace. But, maybe start slow and work up through example 7 over the next two weeks. I think you'll find that 1-5 are very introductory, and will all be encompassed in example 6. Once you do 6 you probably won't want (or need) to go back to practicing 1-5. If this seems too slow, maybe just get really good and smooth at 6 in the keys of G, C, and D. Please add discussions as you see fit.

That sounds like a good pace for me that way i can get it really embedded. I'll aim for getting it really fluent and at a decent pace for 2 weeks today.

I'm in! I started Vol. 1 and then slacked off. This group will keep me going. I think up to example 7 in the next couple weeks sounds manageable.

All- I hope we have reached a critical mass that will keep this thing going, and that others will join over next couple of weeks. I also hope the structure I have setup is to your liking, and that you will contribute to it and refine it. In looking at it, I already think the discussions I have set up are probably too 'granulated,' and will add one more with a bit wider scope for those who can't wait to move beyond the first 7 examples of FE-1.

i worked through to example 7 over the weekend and will now turn more attention to the homework section which i looked at in more detail this evening. There is more to this than i first thought, but it's all good! I also want to be able to find the leading tones by myself by working it out, i did a bit this evening and feel i now have enough to work on for the remainder of the week ahead and get it all embedded then the following week can be practice. I could cover more examples but im in no hurry and want to get everything spot on . Ganon, the structure you have provided is good, thanks for the effort, it's much appreciated!!

Chris, Stephen - you're welcome! I'm glad to do it - I have ulterior motives; by organizing this, I learn the material much better than I would in my usual haphazard approach. Chris, since you are working out the leading tones on you own, that's best and I won't give you a quick rule. However, if you are not familiar with the structure of major scales, it might be a good time to look at Appendix 3 - they will play an important role in examples 8-15 (and beyond). Cheers.

Thanks Ganon, I need to brush up on the major scale, i had learned them in the past but it was so long ago. I want to work the leading notes out to help me when im working other stuff out later on by ear instead of looking up a tab site. Thanks.
