For Fans of Flatpicking Guitar Magazine
In general, I find that the guitar cannot compete volumewise with the banjo, fiddle and mando and needs a hotter mic that the standard SM-57. I'm in the market for a mic that will cut but still maintain the tone characteristics of my D-28. Any recommendations?

Permalink Reply by Mark Sylvester on August 5, 2011 at 8:59pm You should investigate small-diaphragm condenser mics. There are many to choose from, depending on how much you want to spend. The Audio-Technica Pro 37 is a good place to start looking. They do require phantom power from the mixing board.
