For Fans of Flatpicking Guitar Magazine

Hi all, I know nothing about recording and would like to purchase some software to get started. Will someone offer up a little advice? I have plenty of computer gear I just don't know where to start. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Mike

Pro Tools Is the favorite. I use Adobe Audition v. 3 and love it!

Hi Mike. I've used Sonar for several years (PC based) and have had good results. I only use a small fraction of what the program will do - you might download a trial version of Sonar LE to see if you like it. (Manufacturer is Cakewalk). As important are the mics you use, the room you record in and the mood you are in when recording. Make sure you get a program that is very easy for you to use or you will be frustrated when you start the "red light on" process. Here's a little jazz exercise I did this AM on Sonar - converted twice - to wave first and then to mp3. No flatpicking content - I'm trying to master jazz and then move on to bluegrass! Good luck,

Cheers, Steve

Very nice! What guitar are you using? Sounds like a hollow body Gretch.
What is your budget? You can get started for $150 or less (you will need a basic audio interface) and you can try/use quite a lot of software for free. Is this PC or Mac? After that, you can spend as much on this stuff as most folks spend on a car or a house...

Check out Krystal Audio. It's a free download that you can surf for on the web. A little limited but pretty good for learning.
yea i will do too...so i can check what's wrong. maybe my pc don't accepts the device..i don't know but he should...thank y!
there's audiacity too...like a freeware!!!
good but limited..it's the same!
I have Pro tools 8 and it is a great software for recording
hy im using a tascam us 144 with two line track recording. it's good for a one-self-recording...i liked the purchase-included cubase le 4 too...but it's a bit difficult to manage sometimes...
it reflects a great sound...with a simple sure pg voice microphone everything is done for the moment...
it's more importaint to bring to show what you want, i think, watch the carters when they stand in their threesome in front of such old microphone...

guess now i've the problem that tascam works with my new apple but cubase ain't gonna recognize my tascam.
i hope someone will help me...the emails to the producer didn't get answered'!!

regards to all of you! sigi
