Andy,
I know several people who are switching to Logic. What do you like about it?
Thanks

Marcy,

I think in many ways it is a tough call between the (full) PT HD (not the LE version) and Logic. They are very close in many ways and you can do pretty much anything on either of them. Both incredibly powerful tools. Both with quite a learning curve. What I like about Logic is that you are not tied into Digi hardware. You can use Apogee, for example, or indeed any one of several great interfaces. I also like the very tight integration with the Mac, and the fact that many of the plug-ins that cost serious $$ (and are dongle protected) on a PT rig are actually included in Logic Studio - and they are every bit as good. Even the "Express" version of Logic is good - but you do miss out on some of the extras that come with the full "Studio" bundle. Either way - both are totally professional tools that do far, far more than most of us ever want (or need).

I'm new to the whole flat picking thing and new to recording. I just picked up a tascam DP-004 and it is not bad for recording acoustics at all

Arthur Knowler replied to William Gray's discussion Heavy Picks Anyone?
"I have a left handed Blue Chip TAD 3R 40 pick and I find it a great pick to use, no scraping and quick on the strings. The only problem is that the tone is quite bass-y which is great for lead picking or Mandolin but not so good for rhythm…"
