For Fans of Flatpicking Guitar Magazine

In the Western Swing style- Often we use the  I - # I º 7 - ii 7 - V7(or 9) turn around...   this is fairly common, however when we have a melody note that sustains on the root of the I, then the # I º will conflict - this is often when we see a  I º 7 instead of the # I º... in that same turn around.

What is your favorite Western Swing turn around??

OK I have one... this one was taught to me when I was twelve -from George Shoppe - who was eighty-four at the time...

It's in G and on the middle four strings (easily mute the E & e strings)
This one is easy and sounds good!

M 5 5 4 3 M = G
M 4 5 3 5 M = G°7
M 5 4 5 3 M = D7
M 5 4 4 5 M =D9 #5

G / / / G°7 / / / D7 / / / D9#5 / / /

Roger, Is the finger pattern for the D9#5 M5435M rather than M5445M, the A# being on the 3rd fret of the 3rd string?

Well (I feel like Firefox) this is a bit embarrassing...

Yes - you are right on!  That #5note should be on the 3rd fret not the 4th . The chord I wrote down is a D Maj 6/9 which sounds pretty weird with this progression.

If more peeps viewed this discussion, maybe I would've caught that by now.
