Yesterday night.
Well......there was a big party in my neighbour's home. After hours spent drinking, making cocktails, mohitos, gin tonics etc...... some people asked me to go home and pick my guitar up. Incredibly for Italy where acoustic guitar music is not well known, a guy asked me some old Delta fingerstyle tunes, and I know few. Then some people asked for other tunes, me and my girlfriend harmonized our voices singing some James Taylor, Tim O'Brien, and so on......Well, after a while my hands were very warm and I went on with some crosspicking and flatpicking, more less following Bryan Sutton's tips..... I am not in the condition to say if the GREAT sound of me playing my 1997 Bourgeois was just my drunk impression or I was really so relaxed and my hand so warm that I've played all the tunes so well.......probably both things but I wasn't very very drunk, in fact this morning I woke up with no headache. Anyway.....the evolution tip of the day is: unless you are a GREAT player, unless the acoustic guitar is your day job, if you can, even if you are at an ADVANCED LEVEL, before you start your performance, always take at least a 1 hour time to warm up your left hand and your right hand. You'll see the difference!! Remember that a precise and regular right hand is one important secret for a successful flatpicking. ..........Now here in Milan there is a damned grey and rainy morning. What's better? So let's start again playing.

Best to all my friends

Andrea

Hi Andrea,

Actually, the guitar is a James Burkett AJ. It's Brazilian RW with an Adirondack top and probably the nicest guitar I've ever played. I recommend him highly! Here's his website http://www.guitarjtb.com/ and here's a link to a review of this guitar by the original owner of this guitar http://reviews.harmony-central.com/reviews/Guitar/product/Burkett+Guitars/AJ/10/1

I am from Rome, but I live in Milano ITALY. I started playing when I was 8. I've never bought and electric guitar in my entire life. I started with fingerstyle which I still play a bit and I love flatpicking and crosspicking and singing. I am the proud owner of a 1997 Dana Bourgeois D Vintage Herringbone, I am selling a new Taylor GS6 in order to buy a mahogany Bourgeois (banjo killer). And I think acoustic people are genuine people.

been awhile since Jed asked the pick question, so probably doesn't care by now, but when i went to a Beppe workshop some years ago, he was using the Dunlop 500 (not the tortex, but the glossy model), pink one... .98 thickness.
