Acoustic Night 10 - Genova, Italy (produced by Beppe Gambetta) with Beppe Gambetta, Tony McManus, Bruce Molsky, Patty Larkin, Darrell Scott, Mike Marshall

"...My "Acoustic Night" is a love gesture for Genoa. As I'm always traveling around the world, for once I welcome in my hometown the numerous great foreign guitarists I have met. This year, the 10th Anniversary, I celebrate with the greatest ever seen on the Teatro della Corte stage since 2001 until today, and some of them will play here together for the first time ever..." ACOUSTIC NIGHT 9

Review by Damiano Verda

Ninth edition for Beppe Gambetta Acoustic Night who closes one more time the season at the Teatro della Corte in Genova, Italy.

The title chosen by Gambetta for this year show “Rendez-vous” alias “meeting” seems to be really proper.

A meeting for the audience with high quality music, with fantastic performers, with sounds going with lightness and imagination from Brazilian… Continue

Beppe Gambetta 16th International Summer Workshop for New Acoustic Guitar

At my 16th annual International Workshop in Ambroz pod Krvavcem, Slovenia I had the great pleasure to teach and share the stage with American guitar master Steve Kaufman. We spent a really fantastic week together and everyone enjoyed to have this great guest. The winner of the 2008 Ambroz flatpicking award has been Yiannis Gougourelas from Greece.

Acoustic Night 8 - Genova, Italy (produced by Beppe Gambetta)

"It has been a huge music celebration, a unique occasion to see, all together, four exceptional artists: Beppe Gambetta, Jim Hurst, Missy Raines and Bruce Molsky. The Acoustic Night n. 8 at the Teatro della Corte has been acclaimed by an enthusiastic audience that sold out all the available seats of the three concert nights, for a total amount of 3000 people. Beppe Gambetta invented the formula of the night dedicated to the acoustic music...Since 8 years the Festival was dedicated only to the… Continue

Hey Beppe!
I'm glad to see you here on the Flatpicking Network. Let us know how the show went this year with Jim and Missy. Jim gave me a call from Italy and said he was having the time of his life!

Ciao Beppe,
I am wondering if your October 19th date for Woods Hole Massachussetts is a confirmed date. That seems to be the closest you will be to me on your US tour. Also, would you be interested in doing a house concert in New Hampshire while you are in the New England area? There are a lot of folks here that would love to come and see you perform. My daughter will be spending her junior year of college in Firenze and we will be in Italy from December 20th through January 4th. Any recommendations for the holidays in Italy?
Thanks, Russ Aubertin

Easy Solution To a Common Acoustic/Electric String Problem

Found a solution to an often mentioned problem when having installed a piezo type bridge plate pickup transducer. The consensus of several Internet responders who have done this is that while the sound from strings 2 through 6 is good, the high e-string  is way too quiet with no real ring, sustain, etc. Some have suggested moving the transducer for that string away from a brace, Adding a 4th transducer, a not so easy job, etc.I recently installed a JJB pickup (jjbelectronics) in a 40 year old…See More

FGM DGBE

I play two-thirds of a guitar. I have some wrist issues with fretting the 6th string. I enjoy finger picking but have been an avid follower of Flatpicking Guitar Magazine for about 6 years. I find Dan Huckabee's beginners arrangements great for the bari-uke. I have also found much of Adam Granger's work suits my DGBE tuning.I once took a class from Dan Miller in Palo Alto, California and he told me that his daughter was playing the baritone uke. I have e-mailed Adam about his new FGM…See More

Arthur Knowler replied to William Gray's discussion Heavy Picks Anyone?
"I have a left handed Blue Chip TAD 3R 40 pick and I find it a great pick to use, no scraping and quick on the strings. The only problem is that the tone is quite bass-y which is great for lead picking or Mandolin but not so good for rhythm…"
