Just started trying to play a few years ago. I've never had a lesson therefore I'm not very good and I can't ever seem to find enough time to practice the way I need to. But I truly enjoyed listening to the music and dreaming about being able to play like that. I really enjoy trying to play and I love the smell of rosewood so I'll just keep on trying and dreaming.

Thanks, Charlie. You're lucky to live so close and smart to take advantage of the opportunity! I am saving my money and working on the songs I know. Today I played with my friend, Dolly, who plays keyboard. She videoed us on her little Kodak playing "You are my Sunshine." Her grandson, who is majoring in music in college, was curious about his grandma's musical adventures, so he had asked her to make and send a video. We hope he likes it!

Hi Charlie,

Thanks for the invitation. Keep playing ... there's a lot more to flat picking than the number of fast notes you can play, especially friendships and plain old enjoyment

Hi Charlie,
Thanks for the friend invite. Glad to make the acquaintance of another person who's mad for this music!

thanks for the invite, Charlie. You sure have the right attitude.... enjoying the process of learning is the way to go, I'm still digging it after, what, 38 years of playing music. Yikes!

Steve, my office is across the street from Dusty Strings in Seattle and it turns out they have a D18GE in stock. I had not even noticed it but picked it up. The neck takes some getting used to (or probably for me the bigger adjustment is tied to a 1…

Sorry to get a little off topic :-( I realized it once I clicked the Add Reply button.. I like what you said about being able to afford a 20 Dollar Hygrometer... if you can spend 4 grand on a box.. and you can't spend the little bit of money on the…

So what you are talking about here Jon, is not what I started the thread for( but it IS a nice aside!) You NEED to know what your humidity is at in your house were your axe lives. That is what the Hygrometer is for. There are all kinds of threads ev…

I've never had a gauge that I've used for any of my guitars, but what I have done which only costs a few dollars is to get a travel soap box and a sponge to use as a small humidifier that I keep in my case. It's works really well and fits perfectly…
