Hi, Dan. Bob Dodd from Minnesota here. Any chance you'll make it down to Steeleville for the Peaceful Bend festival again this year? If so, let me know which day. Marilyn and I are planning on it, and it would be great to meet up with you guys again.
We are looking forward to June. Are you guys booked or just want to attend the festival? I think Wayne already has J. D. Crowe and the New South booked. I'll probably try to get into the guitar contest again and play a tune for the crowd. Get a free set of strings, haven't used the ones I got last June yet. Steve Kilby
Dan, the D21 is great. I A-B'd it with the D42 I got 2 years ago (which is a good one) and it has a drier tone, better note separation, doesn't ring as much but has more punch. I can't wait for it to open up, it sounds good already. I haven't been playing it much lately, but did a good bit right after I got it home.
Anyway, great to hear from you, hope you and Linda have a wonderful Christmas, Lauren says hello.
Hi Dan, I might take in Winfield 2009 if I get into the contest, don't know whether or not Penny will come yet. Just wanted to say I really enjoyed picking with you and Scott Tischner this past July. Hope you and Linda can come to our New Years Eve party. Steve Kilby

Good to see your smiling face Dan. Missed you at Winflied this last year. Yours is still my favorite recording ever of The Girl I Left behind me. My wife is really coming along on the Hammered Dulcimer. Hopefully we can catch one of your performances sometime. BTW your website is listed as: http://www.lindadan.com/ not dot com on Google's search engine.
Hi, Dan. It was great seeing you and Linda again at Peaceful Bend on Saturday. Quite a show! I look forward to hearing you play again before too long. "A Few Favorites" is still in pretty regular rotation for me. Now, where did you say you put that music book you were carrying?
Ciao Dan
long time no see!
Hope to get to see you again someday,
Cheers,
Roberto

Dan's exposure to Old Time String Band and Bluegrass music began at an early age listening to his mother, grandparents, and uncles play music on various stringed instruments. "My grandmother kept a huge stack of old 45 rpm records...people like The Carter Family, The Blue Sky Boys, The Stanley Brothers and many more." He learned to play rhythm guitar from those recordings and his interest in flatpicking lead guitar was sparked when he heard Doc Watson and Dan Crary playing on a public radio station in the 1970's. Twenty years later Dan has gained recognition as a seasoned flatpicker known for his fluid style and original arrangements, some of which have appeared in Flatpicking Guitar Magazine and Mel Bay Publications.
Dan has performed and recorded since 1980 with hammered dulcimer player Linda Thomas and recently released a solo CD showcasing his flatpicking skills titled "A Few Favorites."
"Listening to him play, it is certainly evident that arrangement is something Dan does very well. His arrangements are interesting, exciting, tasteful and well performed." Dan Miller, Editor, Flatpicking Guitar Magazine
In addition, Dan facilitates flatpicking workshops for beginner to advanced level players and has been a formidable flatpick contest contender as evidenced by the long list of awards he has received:

Dan,
Going through in detail now, and came to this point again. You diagram on p.67 makes the similarity of the C and D forms clear. Another way I have seen these box patterns named that I also find useful is name them 'string-finger' according to…

been awhile since Jed asked the pick question, so probably doesn't care by now, but when i went to a Beppe workshop some years ago, he was using the Dunlop 500 (not the tortex, but the glossy model), pink one... .98 thickness.
