Thanks for the suggestion, Vince. As I read about bridge plate repair, it sounded awfully invasive. That's probably fine, so long as the person making the repairs is knowledgeable, but a less invas...

Hi.I too use mediums on my Mossman(thomastik-infeld's.Plectrum), spoke to Steve Mason recently and he wholeheartedly recommended medium guage;said those fine Mossman's are made for them.(he worked with Stewart Mossman during the Conn debacle...his...

I don't like the sound of P-B strings on my mahogony guitar (Martin D18GE). They give a sound that might be described as 'tinny.' My favorite strings on that guitar are D'addario EJ22, which are medium gauge, nickel strings. Not only do they soun...

You probably already know this, but in case you don't, removing the old bridge plate, piecing in some spruce to repair any top damage, and installing a new bridgeplate are repairs that a good repair person can easily do. I doubt it would be more t...

Thanks, Vince. I really appreciate the advice. It's a little hard to see the bridge plate, but I wouldn't be surprised if the ball ends are sinking somewhat. The guitar came with slotted plastic pins when I bought it in '76, and the pins appear to...

I would take the instrument to a luthier. there may be a problem with the guitar. If the bridgeplate has some damage, and the ball ends are sinking up into it, that could cause the problem. When I got mine, it had plastic slotted bridge pins. Most...

I am looking for advice on the strings for my '76 Mossman guitar. I have tended to play with medium phosphor bronze strings from various manufacturers, but the sound is on the "tinny" side. Any suggestions?
