Mahogany tops tend to have a warmer, softer sound than spruce, especially red spruce. If you want "cut" in a jam then a mahogany top may leave you wanting for more. For the living room and for small jam situations it would be fine, but I'm speakin...

I've never refretted with stainless but I have 2 custom guitars that had them from day one. One is 3 years old, the other is 2 years old. Both have hundreds of hours of playing time on them from a heavy-handed bluegrass hack and they show NO signs...

I'm 49 and started flatpicking about 5 years ago. I've made some awesome friends in our world through the Flatpick-List, flatpicking.com and other sites. I help maintain LeftyFrets.net, a site dedicated to all things lefty in guitars and other instruments.

I live near Albany, Ga. - always looking for pickers to pick with!

Hello Gary. Thanks very much for passing the info to Tom S. He had now owned 2 of my guitars. I shipped one to him midweek & left for Texas sunday.
The new D1AV varnish is everything I had been waiting for. Great tone, perfect neck. Pictures sooner or later. I owe you one
Thanks
Greg

You guys just are hiding behind those hot six strings. Didn't you ever hear, Age before Beauty? Yeah and I never though a banjo picker could make such a nice guitar. Great Pics, Gary! Hope to see you both at Kamp.

Gary,
Thanks for the contact. Leo really can make guitars with that golden age vibe. What years did you attend Kamp? We may have been there together. I went in 2001, 2002, and 2004. I will pass on your info regarding left handed pickers to Steve. HE actually plays a right handed guitar upside down. Self taught and really good but it drives me crazy to try to follow his finger positions when we play.

Hey Gary,

I wish I could go to Kamp for both weeks but ???$????. I might stay home this year too. My playing really benefits from it though. Maybe I'll get some big gigs to help pay for it. We'll see. Thanks for being a friend.
your chick picker buddy & home town girl,

Amy

Gary: Meant to post this sooner. Great being around you at Kamp. The gospel jam was special, and much appreciated by all.
Thanks for being such a positive and cheerful guy. I wish we could all keep that level of goodness showing as much as you do.

You are right Gary, this photo was from last year's Kamp before I "saw the light"!

Yes, its addictive. I am now probably using a pick 75% of the time, as I am trying to learn more tunes for next year's Kamp. Also, my strumming with a pick is finally getting better, so I'm even playing a lot of my old stuff with a pick too.

I don't know which of the Bourgies it is. I just grab one from the pile when I don't feel like getting one of the pre-war 28's out from under the bed;-) Surely you know how it is when you have so many guitars you can't remember the brand and model #'s?

Mark P. (and the above is baloney, pure and simple. I've never even touched a pre-war lefty anything 'cept for my 21 Bruno.)

Hey monkey-mug, thanks for the photo. I had to airbrush out your hand on my shoulder... didn't want folks to get the wrong impression of us :-)

See you around, big boy!
