Jack, congrats on the Ken Miller guitar. That is pretty sweet. I just visited with Ken and Virginia yesterday before heading home from a couple of shows in Fla. It took my Miller a little while to open up, but when it did it was literally over night…

Good to see you again this year. You need to get a picture up of the Miller guitar. Congratulations again.

BTW your picking has really improved, or I just didn't hear you as well last year. Great volume, note choices and confidence!

Thank you Jack. I'm glad you like the picks. Is your son a picker?

Hey, Jack, nice meeting you at Kamp! If I'm ever in Cookeville again, I'll call you. You message me if you're ever near Memphis.
Hope to see you.

Great to meet you and get to pick a few. I enjoyed your guitar. Sorry about breaking into the swing tunes. Did you ever find another jam?

Jack...
Looking forward to seeing you too. Here's my cell phone #: 305-528-7311. I'll have it at Kamp. I've learned a lot of new stuff this year and have forgotten a lot of old stuff...just do not seem to be enough room in my little brain to hold it all (let alone play it). So, I've been trying to review some of the standards during the last 2 weeks. Whatever...can't wait! My direct email is howband@bellsouth.net.

See you in a couple of weeks...

It's been hard to jam much lately. Getting ready for a new grand baby, and well just working. But let me know when you are going to be at Therold's or anywhere else you guys are jaming. I would love to get together.

Hey Jack, good to hear from you Man!
Sorry I couldn't make the contest in Cookeville. I read your blog, and believe me I know how you feel! LOL
I have played in a couple of contests but not place in any yet! Keep picking and I hope we can get together soon.

Hey Jack...
Only a month (roughly to Kamp). I think I remember you saying that you won't be there for the whole week but may stop by for some jamming. That right? I hope I get to see you and we get to play some. I've worked on some new stuff this year, and it was actually a pretty productive year guitar-wise. I also forgot a lot of the old stuff (or, am rusty at least). But, I'm looking forward to kamp very much.

Hope all is well with you...

Ha, ha. The trick in the shop is to just stand still, as we're used to going around each other to grab tools as we work, so nobody is in the way until they start trying to get out of the way......

More About Contests

It's been a year since I competed last so I decided I would give it a try at the Smithville Fiddler's Jamboree guitar contest. I was better prepared this year but still let the nerves get the best of me. My buddy Eric Beatty video taped the contest and is putting it all on youtube so I'll post a link when he does that. I got nervous and did not play the song as clean as I am capable of playing it and made too many mistakes. A little more polish, a lot more contests and hopefully I'll at least ge… Continue

Steve, my office is across the street from Dusty Strings in Seattle and it turns out they have a D18GE in stock. I had not even noticed it but picked it up. The neck takes some getting used to (or probably for me the bigger adjustment is tied to a 1…

So what you are talking about here Jon, is not what I started the thread for( but it IS a nice aside!) You NEED to know what your humidity is at in your house were your axe lives. That is what the Hygrometer is for. There are all kinds of threads ev…

I've never had a gauge that I've used for any of my guitars, but what I have done which only costs a few dollars is to get a travel soap box and a sponge to use as a small humidifier that I keep in my case. It's works really well and fits perfectly…
