I use the L.R. Baggs M1 Active pickup in my '84 D-35. I wanted something that I could take out when I'm at home pickin' 'grass. I just purchased it 2 months ago to use when I lead worship at church or play in our worship band. I have no complaints...

I SO agree that most of our technique builders are already in the tunes we play. However one I give my students (and use myself) is scale sequencing. Starting with a G major scale, giving each note a number (1, 2, 3 = G, A, B etc.) A USEFUL seque...

You're dead right Jim, the best players I know have very agile minds and tend to pick up tunes quickly. i tend to sing scales, exercises and always tunes. If I cant get them quickly I just just break them down a few bars at a time and sing them wh...

From Phil Waites: "...as much as we think of speed as in the fingers, I find its as much in the mind. Just as the mechanics can hold you back so to can not thinking fast enough about the tune. I try and learn the tune clearly in my head as much as...

Hi there, For the past 6 months I've worked on 2 exercises I downloaded from www.freeguitarvideos.com. Go to bluegrass and find speed exercise. I've worked at it 30 to 60 minutes per day religiously. One is basically an exercise for the right hand...

Hey Jared,
Yes Beppe has a website and is also a member on this site. I'd have to google him to get his site address. It helps me to hear from someone who rates their picking as less than sensational. I don't have many tunes that I can pick all the way through (slowly). And the ones I do it's hard to remember the chords so that I could play them with someone else. But I'm working on it. One reason I like Beppe is that when my son was about 10 (now 30) Beppe played with him in Winfield on stage 5. I always respected Beppe for that. Plus he is a darn good picker. If we ever get the chance to be in the same neighborhood we will have to pick some together. I need someone who doesn't want to run off and leave me at 90mph. Keep in touch. MP

Hey jared,
Im a fellow Okie so thought I'd say hi. No flatpickers around me are there many in Norman? Especially ones that like the type flatpicking tunes you do because we are on the same page there. I'm certainly weak on talent but I'm slow. I'm working on it though. If your interested, Beppe Gambetta will be in my home town at the Lavelle Inn. On january 8. yes I know that's the night of the OU-Florida game but I'm just going to have to record it. I work hard to get people in Davis interested in flatpicking so it wouldn't be right if i didn't support the only flatpicker who ever graced our small town. By the way I just ordered a Red Bear pick and a Blue chip pick, what do you think of yours?

This is one of my favorite musical snapshots as it shows the concentration and interaction among the players. The photo captures the moment at just the right time!

As soon as I get back to work, I am gonna buy the cd's too. I have no idea how good they are but all I need it to hear the song played as the tab is written. How hard is that? I am sure they are just fine.

let us know how Rick Faris, does with this guitar, how good it is?

I am giving this idea a pass. I do well enough to do dudududu I can't imagine why you would switch? I sometimes break the rules, as do lots of people at specific spots, but why change everything?

You should be proud. Great picking with three of the greats. Make me pick up my guitar everytime time i listen.
