I back Irish traditional music on guitar and bouzouki and play a bit of whistle and flute as well. I teach around the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area and perform regularly with áthas and other traditional musicians.

I pretty much play guitar in DADGAD, although have been switching back to standard on occasion.

Check out my website where I blog frequently about using guitar and bouzouki in Irish traditional music: http://jeffksiazek.com/

I'm working on adding more resources for backers of Irish music!

Picking Irish tunes on bouzouki

So I've begun focusing some practice time on flatpicking Irish tunes on bouzouki. I know—heaven help us all! I'm starting out learning a tune I play on flute known as “Patsy Geary's” (no, the other "Patsy Geary's”). The version in particular is from Harry Bradley, which I got while at the Frankie Kennedy Winter School back in 2007.

Hey, Jeff. Checked out your website. Very nice. It also made me miss Milwaukee - especially this time of year.

Norman's Preferences

I saw a video in which Norman discussed why he preferred a certain fret when refretting one of his Martin's. I am about to refret my D-35 Martin, and I would like to know if anyone remembers a video in which Norman discusses his choice over the Frets Martin uses. Thank You.7See More
