"I did week 2 in 2005 for mandolin ... and week 2 in both 2006 and 2008 for flatpicking. I'm an advanced player now and I continue to study every chance I get. In fact, right now I'm in the process reviewing Kathy's lesson and lecture…"

I'm "one of them Penns Grove guys" ... South Jersey born and raised. I started out playing electric guitar in high school in 1967. Some friends and I formed a rock band back then and we called ourselves "The Insites", which remained intact until somewhere around 1972. From '72 until 1996 I only picked up the guitar on occasion to jam a little bit with favorite tunes ... especially from my extensive Grateful Dead collection ... as time allowed between working full time, running a property management business, and raising my three kids ( ... along with all their cousins and friends).
Since getting back my "bachelor status" in 1998, I've been a serious student of acoustic music styles for stringed instruments. Today, I'm an acomplished flatpicker playing guitar, mandolin, and upright bass ... focusing mostly on the bluegrass and acoustic roots genres. I still make my home base in same neighborhead that I grew up in.
My band, "New Raccoon Creek", features Michele Green on banjo, Scott Gantt on guitar, Clayon Green on bass, and me on guitar, mandolin and vocals. I also am the mandolinist for the bands "Texas Rose", "Woodchuck Hollow", "Homespun Bluegrass", "Factory Seconds", I sub in occasionally for "Andalusia Jug Band" among others, and am the Music Director of the world renowned AFBA's "Hill People". My primary instruments are both Rhythm and Lead Guitar, Mandolin, and Upright Bass.
I play an active part in our regional Acoustic and Bluegrass Community, and am one of the major organizers/promotors here in the Delaware and Lehigh Valleys being instrumental in promoting Americana's acoustic and traditional genres to the seasoned community and introducing it to new enthusiests. I'm available for private lessons and group workshops in beginner through intermediate levels.
As the founder and host of the popular "Third Sunday Acoustic Jam"... now into it's sixth successful year ... we draw a regular gathering of musicians, friends, and fans from the four state DE MD NJ PA area who come to this monthly jam to enjoy afternoons of playing, picking, singing, and fellowship.
Associations include; Brandywine Friends Of Old Time Music, the Appalachian Fiddle and Bluegrass Association, of which I am also a staff member, and the Pocono Bluegrass and Folk Society.
I am a founder of Wilmington Wintergrass, Inc, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and a member of it's Board of Directors. WWG's purpose is to preserve and hand down this important genre of true American Music. We are presenting The Second Annual Wilmington Winter Bluegrass Festival happening on the weekend of March 13-15, 2009.
