"So, I decided the j-17s were dead enough that it was time to change them out.  I went to my (small) local store, and while they did have some John Pearse Phosphor/Bronze strings, they didn't have the JPS-980M strings.  I did end up…"

"I'm using the JPS_980M strings, Mark. I really like the sound and feel of the heavy "E" string -- it adds depth and clarity to the bottom end.  Part of the reason that I ended up making the switch to nickel strings was because…"

Hi Mark, I am really liking the yardsale archtop I picked up. I got a Ranger Doug book on Freddie Green style big band rythym and I'm learning all those jazz chords. I'm having a blast. So much so in fact that I am now on the lookout for an old Gibby L-50 or L-48. With my D-18 for flatpicking, the big blonde Guild G-37 for rocking, if I can score an old 'burst Gibby L-50 for swinging I'll be all set :)

Mark, I play the guitar evey day. mainly cuz it is so fun to play. When I pick up the D-18, it sounds like a symphony compared to the Harmony. . The Harmony is so focused on those mids. It is a cool sounding guitar with those jazz chords. In comparison, the Martin actually sounds too full for the swing chords. I got a replacement pickguard for it. I really had a hard time choking up the money for it because the pickguard literally cost twice what I paid for the guitar :) I'm glad I got it though because it really adds to the vibe.

hey Mark, I posted some pics on my page. There are a couple just like it on ebay right now. Just search Harmony Patrician. Mine is identical to the 60's era because of the white cover on the adjustable truss rod.

I Love it up on the Summit. On a clear day it is one of the most spectacular views. I envy those weather men stationed up there. When they are snowed in, must make for some good pickin time if they are so inclined.
