Tell us more about yourself (place a Bio here if you wish)
My flatpicking really seemed to take off when I went to Old Time Week at Augusta (Elkins, WVa) and took Intermediate/Advanced flatpicking guitar with Steve Kilby. After I started learning to flatpick some fiddle tunes, I fell in love with guitar playing in a whole new way.
In April of 2013, I began taking flatpicking lessons from Adam Schlenker. My growth and enjoyment of playing guitar has grown tremendously. He is a great teacher!

Glad you enjoyed it Mark, hope to see you 'on the road' at some point!

Good for you! I first heard it in 1996 or '97 at Steve Kaufman's Kamp and took several years to get it down to record it, so there's no rush. It's fun to play everytime! Thanks to Robin Kessinger for sharing this tune. BTW, got to pick with the MAN, Steve Kaufman when he did an outstanding clinic in Calgary this week-end!

Thanks Mark,
I don't get much of a chance to play guitar in most of the bands I'm in, those are nice rare occasions, that Donkey stuff is pretty wide ranging stuff with Charlie Parker and Miles Davis to Bill Monroe and Ralph Stanley.

Hi Mark, just to say how much I enjoyed listening to your music. Liked all three but especially Hunting The Buffalo with fiddle accompaniment since I hadn't heard it before.
Cheers!

Hello again Mark,
I know exactly what you mean with all the different versions of WBB, and I have done the same (taking parts of other versions) to get one that I like and can play. I now have a fellow mandolin player learning it by heart so we can play the tune together and maybe, after a glass or two, sing the words, ha!
Is the bow dulcimer otherwise known as an Apalachian dulcimer? Sounds sweet.
I have just inherited my Grandfathers old hammered dulcimer but it's in a terrible condition. I am going to try to get it restored and playable again.
Atm I have just started learning Red-haired Boy from Joe Carr's 'First Lessons' on both mando and guitar. Really enjoying flatpickin'.
Hope to hear some more uploads from you. I will try to learn them from you by ear.
Cheers!

Robin Kessinger Festival

I just got back from the Robin Kessinger Festival. Lots of great guitar picking. I took a workshop with Steve Kaufman. Everyone in the workshop got to pick in an individual jam with Steve. It was great fun. It would have been even more fun if I hadn't been shaking in my shoes!
