Grew up listening to Norman Blake and got my first guitar at twelve, but had to go through the teenage heavy metal phase before I started flatpicking. I happened upon a Steve Kaufman/Wayne Henderson performance in Pulaski, Virginia one night and discovered that other people played guitars like Norman and that it was called flatpicking. I even found out that there were materials available from which I could learn this technique! A few years later I got serious about it and signed up for Kamp. Now here I am.
Anita Fortney was in my class at Kamp this year.

How's it going? Nice to hear from you. In your picture, where are you? Looks like a cool place. I'm going to be heading to Augusta in a few weeks for a week with Russ Barenberg. Then, that'll be it for guitar camps for another year. I've got so much to work on from Kamp that it's overwhelming (is that spelled right?). The wife is gone for the weekend so I hope to play a lot and maybe scratch the surface. Will I see you next year at Kamp?
