Tell us more about yourself (place a Bio here if you wish)
Hi Gang, my name is Michael and I have been playing for 30 some odd years. I first started learning to flatpick when I was 20 and although I wandered into other genres over the years, I keep coming home to those flatpickin' roots.

I have attend Kaufman Kamp every year since 2005, and looking forward to 2009.

I have attended several other camps, workshops and festivals over the years, and I enjoy getting to hear some of the top players and get a tip or two along the way.

This year, May 2009, I attended the 49th Annual Topanga Contest and Folk Festival. I placed in the Advanced Flatpick Guitar Contest, which was a great experience; www.topangabanjofiddle.org/pdf_files/Winners_List_2009.pdf

In addition to the standard flatpicking repertoire, I also enjoy playing Swing, Blues and Jazz tunes.

Every Tuesday night, near L.B. Airport (see link), we have a get together of some local Bluegrass and Flatpickin' players of all instruments and levels. Some folks just come to listen and socialize.

Steve, my office is across the street from Dusty Strings in Seattle and it turns out they have a D18GE in stock. I had not even noticed it but picked it up. The neck takes some getting used to (or probably for me the bigger adjustment is tied to a 1…

Sorry to get a little off topic :-( I realized it once I clicked the Add Reply button.. I like what you said about being able to afford a 20 Dollar Hygrometer... if you can spend 4 grand on a box.. and you can't spend the little bit of money on the…

So what you are talking about here Jon, is not what I started the thread for( but it IS a nice aside!) You NEED to know what your humidity is at in your house were your axe lives. That is what the Hygrometer is for. There are all kinds of threads ev…

I've never had a gauge that I've used for any of my guitars, but what I have done which only costs a few dollars is to get a travel soap box and a sponge to use as a small humidifier that I keep in my case. It's works really well and fits perfectly…
