I thought you all played well. Good singing and picking. But what Chuck was asking me to listen for was the recording quality of the project. I was impressed by it. This is a really nice example of the single microphone setup. I really like the overall tones of the recording. Chuck did a great job capturing your sound and you all did a nice job laying it down. Congratulations.

Hey Steve! Great to hear from you. Boston...all I can say is that it's a lot nicer when it's not covered in ice and snow with temps in the single digits. I've been running around PA a little bit and will be going to Grey Fox BG Festival in upstate NY and a few other festivals in the northeast. I still have the D but I am seriously considering letting it go. I'm not sure what it is with this guitar but the Gallagher G-50 consistently delivers more tone and projection. Especially as my technique develops and gets better, it's really easy to hear the difference between the two. Hate to say it...for the price you'd think that the D would at least be equivalent to the G, but I think it's a classic instance of "Your Mileage May Vary".

Hey Steve. Good hearing form you. I'm currently taking fiddle lessons with Pete Martin. Talk about a hard instrument! Need to find an intermediate jamming group in Seattle but that will come to develop my "chops" on guitar and mando. Don't think I'll make it to Darrington this year. Have you been? Take care,

You've been to the Kaufman Kamp in the past, right? What was your experience? I'm gearing up to go, and can't wait particularly to hang with Russ Barenberg. I think that he has some of the most killer tone out there.

I just ordered a G-70 from Don Gallagher. It's very much like the 50, except it's got voiced bracing, rosewood back/sides, and a bound fingerboard (the latter of which I honestly couldn't care less about). I was mostly in it to satisfy my recent cravings for a rosewood box. I upgraded the top from Sitka to Adirondack spruce and added the option of a slotted headstock. The countdown begins...

Thanx for the message and update. Italy was good and bad. Good in that I loved it there and ate a ton. Bad in that I went over as one of me and because of the food, I came back as two... well almost.
