Dear LS,
Gave a lot of after thoughts and did want to tell you that that lots of tunes come to my mind. The ones I sent were the ones that I was learning or have learned. Most are of some age as well as the Artists mentioned. Allison Krauss and the such are knew and have good new stuff, but they to will go back to the old original tunes. Another thing is that It would be good for me to get the stuff I have on the computer. In these songs/tunes have the players descretion of putting in the runs before going to the chords. Not sure if anything will help but I'm delighted to try to help you. I will be on it

Hi Lady Scott !
I know it's all in the practicing but thank you for your advice. I started over with the songs ect. last night. I will send the titles with chord progression ( nashville number system). wanted to send chords with them because it was given to me by the instructor and he got it from the mountains, where he learned to play them.Don't want to hold you up. Not very organized yet, It may be an easier way to get you what I wanted you to have but a primitive way. I will start with a few titles that are Traditional Folk songs, you can disregard them if you like. Then the titles and chord progressions. I have the tabs for the flat picking written down. will try them last. The Composer will probably be unknown due to the age of the tunes. Who made them famous, I'm not sure on that, cause everyone plays them with their rendition. And most have the same runs and chords,I did pass my class last weekend. I will jump right in there this morning between slow downs. in my job, and that's not a problem. I'm in and out inspecting construction work here in the county. Take care

Hi Ray! I hope work and classes are going well for you-- I struggle with time to practice as well-- and sometimes only have five minutes here and there to run through a song or some scales. I know you'll find time to practice soon. Don't be too hard on yourself-- the guitar is your most forgiving friend. :) As for the tunes you're recommending... really, just give me the titles and composers, and I'll be able to find them.
( If a particular artist made them popular, that name would be helpful as well.)
God Bless,
LS

I feel so guilty that you're doing all this work... is there anything I can find and send to you?

You're a riot! I've seen the "song catcher" -- I really enjoyed it! I don't have my accent any longer, but my dad's brogue was very strong! Don't worry about trying to send some songs... just give me the song title, and I'm sure I can track it down!
Take care and be safe,
Nancy

Nancy, I went to the netflix site just to look at the description of the movie. The music part over rode a couple of things in the movie that wasn't needed but the history etc. was my interest. No offense was intended, Your friend

Hi Ray~
I also, don't spend a lot of time networking socially on this site... mostly, I look for instructional ideas--- and other websites that have good celtic tunes that I can pick up. My picking style is influenced by Crosby, Stills, and Nash-- old scottish jigs, and old country licks-- I can play the old favorites: Classical Gas and Stairway to Heaven. ( ha! two really different types of songs, I know). My repertoire of actual blue grass songs is nil. My greatest interest lies in the melodious celtic folk tunes like "farewell to whiskey" by Niel Gow--and that's what I'm trying to learn more about. My family was also extremely musical. Our family time was everyone sitting around with mandolins, fiddles, and the piano-- playing the scottish reels while my heavy-set granny hiked her skirt and jigged away! Lots of fun!
Take care and God bless, .... (and oh, yes... thank you for the pink ribbon :)

Welcome! Ray~
I have been playing guitar for years-- and love it. I have an acoustic Taylor guitar (which I love) and a classical guitar for easy listening when I'm up in the mountains. (Yes, we have actual mountains not far from Los Angeles-- (check out Big Bear Calif.)-- anyway... I am new to blue grass, and you could probably give me more tips on that style than I could give you. I am always interested in new instructional books/videos, that area good to learn from, though, so if you hear of any, let me know. I think this is a great site with a lot of good information. I am glad to be a part of it, and I hope you're enjoying it, too.
Take care, and God bless,
Nancy
