Hi Tom. The guitar is 1 3/4" at the nut, and 2 3/8th" string spacing at the bridge. This is the Collings "Vintage" spec. It is the big neck with a flare towards the 12th fret to give the wide spacing. V & mod V are Martin designations. Collings V stands for "vintage". This profile has enough V shape to be comfortable playing thumb-wrap F chords in first position. My best description of the neck is that it i not round shaped like a Collings C10 or Gibson. I find it very comfortable & soft rather than sharp under the thumb of the fretting hand (I would call it a soft or modified V) I copied this profile from my original 2000 D1AVL and my new varnish D1AV has a neck made off the template for this 06. There are 2 photos of it in my photos on my profile page. Thanks
Greg

Hi Tom. Thanks for the add. I am selling my 06 D1AV sb (dark '37 style sunburst. ) I have a D1AV lefty varnish that I'm going to Austin to pick up in 2 weeks. The guitar is tremendously powerful. I'm not out to build a collection. I have one great Collings braz dread, and a '92 Gibson AJ with the top refinished in varnish for a festival guitar. In this economic climate I'm asking $3K plus shipping & insurance.
Thanks
Greg

I work to finance my two pastimes: guitar playing and fishing. I play guitar a hell of a lot more than I fish but I have more luck fishing.

Steve, my office is across the street from Dusty Strings in Seattle and it turns out they have a D18GE in stock. I had not even noticed it but picked it up. The neck takes some getting used to (or probably for me the bigger adjustment is tied to a 1…

Sorry to get a little off topic :-( I realized it once I clicked the Add Reply button.. I like what you said about being able to afford a 20 Dollar Hygrometer... if you can spend 4 grand on a box.. and you can't spend the little bit of money on the…

So what you are talking about here Jon, is not what I started the thread for( but it IS a nice aside!) You NEED to know what your humidity is at in your house were your axe lives. That is what the Hygrometer is for. There are all kinds of threads ev…

I've never had a gauge that I've used for any of my guitars, but what I have done which only costs a few dollars is to get a travel soap box and a sponge to use as a small humidifier that I keep in my case. It's works really well and fits perfectly…
