What's important in life

When I was a young man, I loved the guitar, self taught, 18, would play until my hands bled, then put bandages on my fingertips and play some more

This should have told me something, but it didn't.

I always played somewhat after that, but had to make room for career, family, church, money, so my music side took a back seat. My Martin was always there, it should have told me something then, but it didn't.

I'm now 56, smitten with a passion for bluegrass, guitar,… Continue

Hi Walter,

Sorry I am so late in responding but work takes me around the globe and I honestly have not sat down in front of a computer (for fun that is) since early September. Anyway, good to have another friend.
Best regards,
Jeff Morrison

Thanks Walter. I've been really enjoying a couple of bluegrass jams in Frankfort. 45 mins from home but worth the drive. Also see you're a Blue Highway fan. I just got turned on to them a few weeks back and really love Lonesome Pine (the whole cd and the song). Check out DownHomeGuitars.com for the jam info as well as for some incredible guitars. Tom Smith, the owner, is a fellow picker and rather than just satisfying his GAS attacks with buying a guitar now and then, Tom decided to open a guitar store instead. He took over hosting the Steve Kaufman workshop from me a few years ago. Great guy and a tremendous store.

Tom Faux replied to Todd McFarland's discussion What brand do you play?
"I recently came across a steel string parlor guitar made by P. Benson, in Minneapolis.  It's really a nice little instrument--well built, comfortable, very much like an old Martin 00-18 (mahogany, slotted headstock, pyramid bridge, ladder…"

"My gear is much better than my skill - for straight flatpickin', I play a Martin D-18 Authentic 1937. My go-to guitar for just about everything else (and it flatpicks just fine, thank you) is my Huss & Dalton D-RH with a Red Spruce top.…"
