Hi Kerry, We offer a photo pictorial for our customers when they order a guitar at no additional cost. Mary sends between 300 - 500 pics from choosing the tone woods to putting the guitar in the shipping box. Several of our customers have posted the…

Tim, I would love to see a pictoral on your whole building process. If you are going to be doing so many non traditional things, I think it would help you to sell your axes too. I love the mahogany sides and back and also the side sound hole too!...…

Hi Phil, Yes, the carbon truss braces are my own design though I am sure someone else may have done it before??? It was a result of a LOT of thought going into my first 12 string. I typically build my guitars VERY light so I was afraid of what the a…

I can see now how it would have real punch the way it is braced Hog/adi is my absolute favourite flatpicking combination as you say load clear and punchy without too many overtones to get in the way of fast picking. Is that your own bracing design…

Thanks for the kind words Phil, It is very close to a D-18 on steroids :) As for tone, well it is your traditional classic combination of Adi over Hog. Punchy, clear, excellent separation with a strong healthy midrange Hog-bite. Did I mention that i…

That looks absolutely great, is it braced to sound dry and woody with a strong fundamental like a pre-war D18 or a more modern Collings kind of sound - or maybe your own distinctive tone. I like them all, just curious Thanks Phil

Most of our business is building fingerstyle guitars but ocassionally we get to go back to our roots and build some more traditional looking guitars. This one shipped to TN today. Snapped a few quick low res pics so I appologize for the not so sharp…

I had been facinated with guitars since I was a kid but never had the money to buy one. Many years later my wife bought me a used Yamaha so I could learn how to play. The action was about 12" high or so it seemed, so I convinced her that I would HAVE to have a Martin if I was going to learn how to play. She said OK, until she found out how much a HD-28 cost and then her answer quickly did an about face. To my surprise she purchased a HD-28 Martin kit for a Christmas gift some 20 years ago and that was the guitar that launched my lutherie career. More orders are backed up and I still can't find the time to practice enough so it reflects in my playing ability or the lack thereof but the passion about acoustic guitars never has never subsided. Combing a love for wood, a mechanical engineering background and lutherie has turned out to be the perfect mix and fuels my desire to build the next guitar better than the last one. Steve, my office is across the street from Dusty Strings in Seattle and it turns out they have a D18GE in stock. I had not even noticed it but picked it up. The neck takes some getting used to (or probably for me the bigger adjustment is tied to a 1…

Sorry to get a little off topic :-( I realized it once I clicked the Add Reply button.. I like what you said about being able to afford a 20 Dollar Hygrometer... if you can spend 4 grand on a box.. and you can't spend the little bit of money on the…

So what you are talking about here Jon, is not what I started the thread for( but it IS a nice aside!) You NEED to know what your humidity is at in your house were your axe lives. That is what the Hygrometer is for. There are all kinds of threads ev…

I've never had a gauge that I've used for any of my guitars, but what I have done which only costs a few dollars is to get a travel soap box and a sponge to use as a small humidifier that I keep in my case. It's works really well and fits perfectly…
