I have a D-18 built in 1955. (I checked the serial numbers against the Martin website and if the numbers follow the progession of the year, damn thing may have been built on the day I was born.) My question is this - it has herringbone, snowflake inlay and birch perf around the guitar. I suspect that somebody added this (and whoever did was a good craftsman) but...did Martin ever do factory specials like this???
