I've added a couple of videos of Old Time Tunes that work beautifully on guitar. I'm playing a 1918 Gibson 4 string Cello Banjo here and Cathy Fink is playing a Tubaphone 5 string. The Cello Banjo is experiencing a well deserved come back in the last year. When I put this clip up on youtube I was the only person playing it as a melody instrument. The only other player I could find was a guy in France who plays his as a bass. I had approached several companies to see if they would be interested in making them and they all said "NO!" Gold Tone saw the youtube clips and started making them. The 4 string models bear my name. It's wonderful that these instruments are being made again after nearly becoming lost. Most of the companies that originally made them stopped between 90 and 100 years ago. These instruments were played in banjo orchestras and not in traditional music to my knowledge but they work beautifully with acoustic music in my humble opinion. See what you think.
Guitar players are picking these things up and making beautiful music with them now. It's very exciting! Gold Tone just told me that they're going to do a 6 string model that will be tunes like a guitar. It'll also be my signature model. I'm keeping a list of people who want one. If you would like to be on the list let me know.
