Acoustic Night 8 - Genova, Italy (produced by Beppe Gambetta)

"It has been a huge music celebration, a unique occasion to see, all together, four exceptional artists: Beppe Gambetta, Jim Hurst, Missy Raines and Bruce Molsky. The Acoustic Night n. 8 at the Teatro della Corte has been acclaimed by an enthusiastic audience that sold out all the available seats of the three concert nights, for a total amount of 3000 people. Beppe Gambetta invented the formula of the night dedicated to the acoustic music...Since 8 years the Festival was dedicated only to the guitar (Dan Crary, Steve Kaufman, Tony McManus, Brad Davis were among the artists featured in the previous editions). This year Gambetta thought about a "not only guitar night" with Missy Raines at the bass and Bruce Molsky with fiddle, banjo and guitar. Hurst has been introduced by the host Gambetta as "a guitar genius"...After his first solo the audience was amazed by the richness of his sound and the rhythmic solutions of his style and tributed to him a long and powerful applause...
The evening is a mix of duets, quartets and four solos. Gambetta performed also two tunes from his next CD (to be released in September 2008 in the US): "Hobo's crossing" and "Street lights in Torraca". There is also, as usual, a spot dedicated to Gambetta hometown Genova. The opening of the second set is an editing of scenes from the film "Le Mura di Malapaga" by René Clément produced in 1949, starring Jean Gabin and Isa Miranda. Beautiful images by themselves, even more with the wonderful music by the four musicians. Encores and long standing ovations..." (Eliana Quattrini, Corriere Mercantile, Genova, Italy).
