Flatpicking Guitar Network

For Fans of Flatpicking Guitar Magazine

Finally recovered from American 09, what a great weeknd of music and fun !
Thanks to all who came and supported great guitar music in the midwest. If its not the finest weeknd of Flatpicklin , its rite up there .
I have been hard at work, trying to bring the best of the best to The Bend next year, and I thought I would post about the tentative lineup as of now.

Roy Curry, 2x Winfield Flatpicking Champ is on board, as is fellow 2x winner Robert Shafer, who will be doing a show with Johnny Staats, an incredible picker himself.

I also have a show with Stephen Bennet in the works, including a guitar workshop and a Harp Guitar workshop. If you have seen Stephen in action you understand how exciting this will be.

I am working to bring Mitch Corbin onboard, not only for his incredible picking skills, but also as one of the finest Guitar Builders out there these days. Mitch won the Guitar and Mandolin competition at Winfield in the same year (82). Mitch also plays mandolin with the David Bromberg Quartet.

We are also hoping to get Jalan Crossland back, for the Headline show saturday nite. He is such a fine entertainer, you are in for a treat if you havent seen him and his band.

Anyway, it sure looks to be shaping up as another great weekend , with the finest Flatpickin in the World.
I hope you all are having a nice , hot summer!

Bill

Hi Bill,

A great picker for sure.. I am pretty well loaded for bear for next year.. but you never know..
On a side note, would you care to comment on the workshops of 2009..
I thought they went well, with the jam style program.. What was your impression, and do you have any suggestions in that direction ?
I am thinking about asking Roy to do an Alabama Jubilee workshop thursday afternoon .. On variations and contest type preparations..

Steve, my office is across the street from Dusty Strings in Seattle and it turns out they have a D18GE in stock. I had not even noticed it but picked it up. The neck takes some getting used to (or probably for me the bigger adjustment is tied to a 1…

So what you are talking about here Jon, is not what I started the thread for( but it IS a nice aside!) You NEED to know what your humidity is at in your house were your axe lives. That is what the Hygrometer is for. There are all kinds of threads ev…

I've never had a gauge that I've used for any of my guitars, but what I have done which only costs a few dollars is to get a travel soap box and a sponge to use as a small humidifier that I keep in my case. It's works really well and fits perfectly…
