Hey Mike thanks for the welcome. I have just ordered a flatpicking essentials volume 1 by Tim May and hoping this will help my progress as I am brand new to flatpicking but am very anxious to learn. Have printed of lots of scales so far and watching a lot of youtube to get tips. Just trying to speed up my finger work for now.
Take care I'm sure your liking the weather alot better down in sunny California its been a depressing long.... winter up here this year, but spring is coming up you can feel it in the air only -5 today.
Hi Mike. Thanks for the welcome - looks like you're the official doorman :-) I'm looking forward to getting involved in the network. I've just been working on a (slow) version of East Tennessee Blue, might post it up once I find my way around this place!
a Collings is similar quality to my Fylde - tho the Collings are more expensive - but hey, I don't need an excuse to look at expensive guitars!!!! Yes I did omit to say, where, its Redding - CA. The trick for me will be finding a guitar that sounds good flatpicking/blugrass and finger picked folk.
"Hey Craig. Thanks for the kind comment. The credit for this version should really go To Steve Kaufman who's arrangement it is. Good luck with your bluegrass studies, it's wonderful music and great fun to play. I look forward to…"
"Derek: Mike above is teaching me blue grass and showed me this site. Fantastic rendition by you of this great song. Thanks for sharing. I'm off to Mike's to practice!!!!"
"I have a Guild Bluegrass D40 made in the original factory at Hoboken that has been with me since 1964
I also have a Martin D18 made sometime around 1994 and a 1977 or earlier Yamaha FG336SB"
"Thanks Mike. I have to prove to myself that I can play the material as written but once I've done that I start to allow myself some leeway to have fun and drop in my own bits. There's not too much space to do that in SK's version of…"
"Nice picking!! I learnt the self same version from Steve Kaufman but like me you put in a few extra bits. Looks like she has made you do your picking the garage teee heee"
