Thanks,David.
The '39 D-18 is a great and quality sounding guitar.Still can't believe that i close that close to a legendary guitar like this.
I really have to record some music and have it sent to you.It shares many common tonal qualities with your excellent '39 D-18.
Some times the sound changes due to weather conditions, but it's there most of the times.
Enjoy!
Yiannis,
I seem to see you everywhere on the net (UMGF, YouTube, Flatpick Network). You seem like such a positive guy, so I thought I'd make contact. We have a lot in common in terms of age, guitars, and musical taste. I, too, have a 1939 D-18, but I bet yours is in much better condition than mine! I also have a '39 Gibson J-35, a 1943 Gibson SJ, and a 1994 Collings D-2H. All refinished and funky (accept the Collings). They all sound great though!. Anyway, I just wanted to say hi and that I enjoy your posts and comments!

Yassos Yiannis!!
I went to Tessaloniki many many years ago......I am very happy to see the number of european flatpickers is increasing. Maybe for you it's easier as you have a great Bouzooki tradition..... Anyway KEEP PICKING!!
Chad,
Glad to hear from you too! Yes,it seems that G.A.S. is a disease...And surely UMGF is the reason!
I'm a flatpicker here in Greece,i was trying all alone to play that kind of music(bluegrass).
Yes,i do own a late '39 D-18 maybe the cleanest in the world,but...refinished.It's a great sounding guitar though.I'm more of a player than a collector.
I had an original Engelmann topped '53 D-28 2 months ago,so i traded it+cash to get that '39 D-18.
My other guitars are:
'51 00-18,'63 D-18,'76 HD-28,J.Walker J-35 replica,custom made Mike Vanden Alpine/Brazilian(the most sonorous guitar i've ever played),'93 Larrivee D-50 rosewood,a,and a parlor Regal.
I'm having a Blazer&Henkes shaded top D-18 on order too.
What a pity!!
I can't come! I will be probably busy during that days.
Anyway, I know with Beppe you will be fine. He's great. He does the double down-up like Brad Davis.....ask him to teach it.
Ciao
Sayou Yannis! I am from the Med too, Marseille! But I live close to Paris right now. I will drink a good ouzo tonight like when I am in Kalymnos, hope to meet you some day. Cheers, jean;
Jean,
I see you're having a great time there!
If you ever visit Thessaloniki(on the Nothern Greece),let me know about it.
Best,
Yiannis

Hi yiannis
I am very proud of my 54’ D18, it a great sounding guitar and it's very clean. In connection with Clarence White Rockbridge, I do not have many information with share that it is a very new model, they are meticously hand-build by Randall Ray and Brian Calhoun in Lexington. http://www.rockbridgeguitar.com for more details on these amazing guitars. The first model was build in December 2007.
I spoke with Clarence daughter, Michelle White about this guitar, she knows this model and would like to have a deal between this model of guitar and the shirt which it markets, if it's possible...

I also have a Martin D18 made sometime around 1994 and a 1977 or earlier Yamaha FG336SB"
"Thanks Mike. I have to prove to myself that I can play the material as written but once I've done that I start to allow myself some leeway to have fun and drop in my own bits. There's not too much space to do that in SK's version of…"
"Nice picking!! I learnt the self same version from Steve Kaufman but like me you put in a few extra bits. Looks like she has made you do your picking the garage teee heee"
