Hey Mr. Hess! This is Jed Clark, you may or many not remember me from Branson. Sierra, that one banjo dude, smiley (bass), and yourself jammed with us at that hotel.
I recently ordered a new guitar. I took your advice and got the Adorondak spruce top and forward shifted x-bracing. Thanks again for jamming with us!
Take care!

I'm the owner of Martin "Clay Hess" Custom Edition #3. I love it. I hope someday I'll be able to play it well enough to make it sound at least a fraction of it's potential.
You were the reason i bought the D-18V Clay Hess #6,(but sold it later due to it's big neck).
Bought your dvd also and your cds Clay.
I'm definitely a fan of yours.
Hope i can get the chance to meet you someday,Clay in U.S.!
Keep on picking so good!
Thanks for adding me. I'm a big fan of your unique approach to playing and look forward to hearing you play in Charlotte, NC sometime. The Evening Muse would be a great intimate venue for you.
Clay, thought I'd let you know that you've really inspired my picking and got me motivated to seriously improve my flatpicking. Your version of Beaumont Rag of all things (on the MFG website a few years back) is what really got me going. As luck would have it, once I got my flatpicking skills going, I immediately got hired as a mandolin player in a local band!
Glad to see you're playing in a band again. Too bad you mid-west type guys don't make it to the other side of the Rockies very often. Us northwest pickers are in constant bluegrass starvation mode and I've always wanted to see you perform in person. Maybe Mountain Heart could sneak on over to the Boise, Idaho area sometime.
Hey Clay, I loved the "none" under favorite flatpicking tunes. Just what I would have expected. You know, you're never going to get hired by the Cherryholmes Band this way.
Hey Cless, all the best from Germany, hope you didn´t mind me adding your wonderful "I know why" ("http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=Y15BqO6SriE) to YouTube. I recorded the whole gig and I was so impressed by you!!! If you´d like t o have a copy of that concert (at the Feed & Seed" with Ron Block) please let me know! Matthias
Sorry Clay for calling you "Cless"! It´s been a busy day... ;-)

Dear Clay,
I don't know which of you is better looking that guitar or yourself (maybe the guitar). Anyway I want to take this opportunity to wish you and yours a Merry Christmas and may God bless you in many ways during the coming year.
I found you here at the Flatpik_Ning site and it was a real pleasure picking with you and Adam in Florida a few weeks back....You guys were really great and I had a blast...
Next time your here in Florida, lets do some fishing.
Clay, as all ways good to hear you and see you, have a blessed Easter, I'm sure, looking forward to maybe seeing you in Aug. again 'wink' and the fruit don't fall far from the tree.
Best regards,
Craig and Laura.
Hi Clay. Could you tell me where I could purchase the music notation to "I Know Why"? Or just the guitar chords would do, as well. I have the lyrics. I love your music. Dorothy Stall fayetvil@cvctx.com

"I recently came across a steel string parlor guitar made by P. Benson, in Minneapolis. It's really a nice little instrument--well built, comfortable, very much like an old Martin 00-18 (mahogany, slotted headstock, pyramid bridge, ladder…"
"My gear is much better than my skill - for straight flatpickin', I play a Martin D-18 Authentic 1937. My go-to guitar for just about everything else (and it flatpicks just fine, thank you) is my Huss & Dalton D-RH with a Red Spruce top.…"
"Hey Craig. Thanks for the kind comment. The credit for this version should really go To Steve Kaufman who's arrangement it is. Good luck with your bluegrass studies, it's wonderful music and great fun to play. I look forward to…"
"Derek: Mike above is teaching me blue grass and showed me this site. Fantastic rendition by you of this great song. Thanks for sharing. I'm off to Mike's to practice!!!!"
"I have a Guild Bluegrass D40 made in the original factory at Hoboken that has been with me since 1964
I also have a Martin D18 made sometime around 1994 and a 1977 or earlier Yamaha FG336SB"
"Thanks Mike. I have to prove to myself that I can play the material as written but once I've done that I start to allow myself some leeway to have fun and drop in my own bits. There's not too much space to do that in SK's version of…"
