Guitar Lessons
Well after 40 years I have decided to take some guitar lessons. Eddie Collins is our local Bluegrass ambassador. I just took my second lesson with Eddie and am surprised at how helpful it has been. Which is not a commentary on Eddie. I have assumed for some time if I sit at home and pluck around on my own, I will get better. (Though the concept of getting better has never really been my objective. Learning new songs is good, but I don't want to feel the pressure of getting better or reaching a certain level. I just want to learn some new songs and play what I like.) That assumption evidences stupidity, laziness, pride and many other weak human character issues, about me. An old cowboy told me one time that you need to go places and see how other people do things, maybe they have a different kind of latch on a gate, etc.... So, Eddie is my first stop on the continued journey of playing guitar. I plan on continuing my lessons and may even attend a jam session and actually play someday. Again, how do you ever feel like you've now reached the end of the road with a musical instrument.
