Favorite Guitars
My 1946 Martin D-18. But I have been using my 1978 Martin HD-28, and my 1996 Martin D-18GE too. They are all great sounding guitars.

Howdy Folks!
Just to let you know, you can find out a whole lot about me at www.jimnunally.com and at www.myspace.com/jimnunally
I have a brand new DVD on strums called Jim Nunally - The Art Of Rhythm Guitar - Strums. Covers the same material I teach at music camps. You can find my solo CD Gloria's Waltz online at my website too.
Of course you can get information on the bands I play in, The David Grisman Bluegrass Experience, John Reischman and the Jaybirds, and with Dix Bruce as well. Plus my tour schedule.
Do you have a website?

Here's what I'm using these days

1946 Martin D-18 with the David Grisman Bluegrass Experience and John Reischman and The Jaybirds. But I have been using my 1978 Martin HD-28 with the Jaybirds too because it has a Fishman Ellipse onboard.
I take out my 1996 Martin D-18GE now and then when the 46' needs a rest from the road.
With Dix Bruce I mostly play the 1978 Martin HD-28.
I use Red Bear Trading company's Tortis pick 1.65mm. I have a Jim Nunally signature model with them. I have been using these picks for over two years now and they work perfect, as good as any shell picks I have ever had.

Hey Jim. Just got home & I wanted to drop a line and let you know how much enjoyed your playing in the Dawg BG Ensemble. Being a real fan of trad BG I loved DG's renditions and it was also a pleasure to hear Keith Little sing. Look forward to seeing you in Sorrento in 2 weeks.
Hope perhaps we can get a chance to pick.
I'm bringing up one of my large sheet film portrait cameras,,,,and maybe we could find some time for a black & white portrait.
Best Wishes
Greg

Hi Jim,
Thanks for the nice note. It really has been a while! I'm always happy to hear and see how busy you are and that the quality and people you are working alongside are so stellar. You have a great career going and deservedly so. Hope we get to pick a little bit sometime.
Best always, Mark Cosgrove

Jim,

I just recently heard some of your stuff with Dix. I'm an instant fan! Steve P has been a great friend and influence. I miss the Bay Area music scene.

Warm Regards,
Anson

Hi Jim: How are you doing? How is the '46 doing? Are you getting those cracks humidified or fixed? I look forward to picking a few with you at Sorrento
See you then!

Jim,

I was in your class at Kaufman Kamp '06 and in the band dynamics class on Wed. morning with you, John and Trish. Those 2 classes in hindsight were the best classes I had all week. I've used more that I picked up from you since then than anything else I learned that week.

Keep up the great picking. I've really enjoyed "Gloria's Waltz", the tribute to your mother. Good stuff!

Hi Jim,

Thanks for helping us out with the new Prairie Flyer CD. So what did you like about it. I'd would have like to play my breaks with more conviction, but I thought that the guitar rhythm seemed to be recorded well. Anyway hope all is well and I'd like to hear from you and get your thoughts on the CD. Thanks Steve
