I seen you left the group a message about beginning flat-picking. I have a couple things to share with you about that. First, you can check out my website at www.musicwithryan.com and have alook around. I have a around 30 tunes all tabbed out with backing tracks and you can either listen or watch me play the arrangements. I also have a book for sale too that has 25 tunes and instruction about some basics to flat-picking. Another place I've been doing some beginner things is a blog spot called blog.musikalessons.com. There I talk about some rhythm things and will continue to post free lessons over the coming months. I hope this helps!
Hey Russell, I have put together a Facebook page addressing these things. I recommend that you learn the proper technique with the alternating picking. Here are some sites for you to check out. Ryan's websites are fantastic as well!
Adam Schlenker has the best approach to teaching how to flat pick in my opinion. Banjo Ben has plenty of youtube video lessons and a good website. Also, on youtube, Ken Middleton has a few good lessons on playing "Carter Style" which is good also. All of this is good, assuming that you already know your chords. Good Luck, have fun, and feel free to ask me anything. I have a few resources to get you going in the right direction!
Also, I am new to this as well and this is where I learned how.
Russell, glad to help. This has been my obsession for about a year now. An acoustic would be nice, but I started out on my electric before I bought my first one last may. Now I have two acoustics, and would love to try out a Blueridge BR 160. They look and sound great online! Of course, a Martin D 28 is what I really would like to have someday. Thanks for checking out the facebook page! Adam Schlenker and Kathy Barwick are great instructors that are helping out with it. As far as guitar questions and repair question, Dan's Music is available to help as well. Just post a question, comment or concern on that page and you will get help! Its free, and I hope to help as many as I can with it!
Best of luck on the flat picking. My first song to pick was Arkansas Traveler. Just take it slow, work on that alternate picking, be patient, and you'll get it! Here is a link to Jamplay on the alternate picking:
How is everything with you, I picked interest on you after going through your short profile and deemed it necessary to write you immediately. I have something very vital to disclose to you, but I found it difficult to express myself here, since it's a public site.Could you please get back to me on:( firstname.lastname@example.org ) for the full details.
Have a nice day
Thanks God bless.
