Learning harmony parts in a hurry

Singing harmony in a bluegrass band becomes much easier the more time you're able to practice with your bandmates.



My band is lucky if we can get together once per week. Couple that with the fact I was the last to join, and I had a big challenge to learn parts quickly for a lot of songs.



I found a method that works for me, though, and it might for you.

A New Year

I hope the world becomes a better place in 2009. So much strife, so much misery..makes one want to go write a sad song.

On the other hand, we had a baby in the house last night, first time in a way long time. The lil smile on her face this morning gives me hope .. and scares the heck outta me .. its a tuff, changing world she will have to navigate.. but I reckon thats a grandparents place.. take all the hugs and worry !

Clay Hess Pick

I met Clay at a guitar clinic and, long story short, he have my girlfriend a pick. Over time I acquired the pick. I have been playing with this pick for literally years and lost it today. I can't play as well with any other pick and I am freaking out! This, apparently, was hand made by Clay. I have a huge gig coming up in ten days and am lost. Does anyone know where I can get a pick like this?

My first gig. Like, ever.

It's taken four years of woodshedding and a lot of 7-for-6 orders from County Sales to get up to speed, but I've officially made the transition from guy who could strum a few chords around the campfire to working bluegrass musician.
