Old Time Tunes

Hi Pickers,

I've added a couple of videos of Old Time Tunes that work beautifully on guitar. I'm playing a 1918 Gibson 4 string Cello Banjo here and Cathy Fink is playing a Tubaphone 5 string. The Cello Banjo is experiencing a well deserved come back in the last year. When I put this clip up on youtube I was the only person playing it as a melody instrument. The only other player I could find was a guy in France who plays his as a bass. I had approached several companies to see if they… Continue

I enlarged it by using larger and larger drillbits. 8 and 10 mm. went fine but the 12 mm was difficult. Turned out that 12 mm was more than my two drills could handle. Had to borrow my neighbours drill. It was a powerful drill that jumped every time I pressed the start button. So I couldn't hold it… Continue

ETSU

Most of the time I jam at night with my oldest daughter. But now she is off. She has started studies at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City. She is studying at their Bluegrass program, so we are very excited about that. It is a great chance for her. I uploaded som pictures of guitarpickers that she has met sofar after she arrived. It is a big step to travel so far away when you are 18, but she has been doing great sofar.

ETSU… Continue

147 Flatpick Tunes Tabbed Out

Hi Folks,

I've put together a 287-page downloadable PDF book that has 147 flatpicking tunes that were tabbed out and presented in the magazine during the first 10 years of our publication.

These tunes are all flatpicking and bluegrass standards. If you want to build your repertoire and learn variations to the tunes you already know, this is the most affordable source. You can download the book and print out your favorite tunes on your own printer as you are ready to learn… Continue

First blog

Well, I will try this blog thing out for a bit.

I have been trying to learn to play the guitar for nearly 5 years now. 4 at least. I wasted a couple years with no lessons at all. Chased my tail. Still practiced and played but real ineffective. Chad Fette has me playing now and am I happy with that. On good days, mostly sundays, when I am not completely fatigued, I can have some prettty good sessions where I play pretty well ...for me. I just have to work even harder. It sure is slow going.… Continue
